Limited energy resources, clean water and the environment are rate limiting factors to economic growth. Clean technologies and green and sustainable building provide an opportunity to produce clean energy and water and conserve scarce resources for healthier economic growth. Syria need not look any further than its recent past for examples of green and sustainable development to realize that Syrians have been adapting to their unique environment successfully for generations, at the same time laying the very foundations for civilization. It is time Syria incorporate elements of its own unique architectural history with the many advances of modern science and building design to tackle the growing demand for energy, clean water and a healthy environment.
